Beauty of Motherhood
A crowdfunded mini-documentary developed and produced from first pitch to finished film.

The case study
The story behind the frame
Beauty of Motherhood began as a proof of concept for a larger film project. Produced in 2024 under our former name, Los Loros Productions LLC (now Parrot Productions), the documentary features narrator and interviewer Savannah Evans (@sav.speakslife) of Sav Speaks Life alongside mothers and experts on the issue, especially those with personal experience of pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or abortion. The film explores what is true, good, and beautiful about motherhood while recognizing its hardships and trials.
Over several weeks of development and pre-production, we shaped and pitched the idea, networked to raise funds, coordinated with Savannah and her talent manager, and secured locations in Tampa and Riverview. The production was carried from planning through filming and post-production by the same team.
From idea to release
We crowdfunded the pilot on Indiegogo in July 2024 and delivered the finished film to every backer.
Pre-production included schedules, call sheets, location planning, and a formal acting agreement with Savannah’s talent manager covering scope, image rights, and promotional expectations. The agreement was signed ahead of the shoot.
The two-day shoot took place October 28–29, 2024: a cyc-wall interview set in Tampa and on-location interviews and pickups in Riverview. We filmed with Parrot Productions’ Canon EOS C300 Mark III and two Canon EOS C70 cameras provided by Brad Hall, who also served as director of photography. Daniel Brunal directed, and Matthew Coughlin produced.
We edited the film in Premiere and released it on YouTube on November 4, 2024, with digital copies delivered to contributors.
What we focused on
- End-to-end ownership: From developing and pitching the idea to talent coordination, locations, production, and edit.
- Thoughtful pre-production: Schedules, call sheets, location planning, and a formal talent agreement established before filming.
- A two-day, two-location production: A controlled interview setup in Tampa followed by on-location filming in Riverview.
Results
The pilot moved from a community-funded idea to a completed documentary released on YouTube, with digital downloads delivered to its nine backers.
