The story behind the frame
Atlas Aviation came to us with a good story and a smart arrangement: a spec production, heavily discounted in exchange for a film that could anchor our demo reel. We took the bet because the story deserved it: a flight school at Peter O. Knight Airport, where students earn their wings over Tampa Bay.
Shot at Peter O. Knight Airport on Davis Islands on November 1, 2023, the production captured ramp activity and conference-room study sessions, instructor–student moments, cockpit detail, and aerials over the bay on a Canon EOS C70, a cinema camera. Hired talent played the student and peer roles under signed releases, the shot list was planned in advance, and a drone joined the kit for aerial footage.
The finished film, “Elevation: Atlas Aviation,” was delivered in two cuts, with voiceover and without, giving the client flexibility for different viewing contexts. It was produced under our former name, Los Loros Productions LLC — now Parrot Productions.
A spec shoot is still real work. Planned shots, professional talent, signed releases, a real client, and a real delivery: the discount was on the price, never on the process. That’s the standard we bring to every engagement, and why spec work belongs on the reel.
What we focused on
- Real aviation environments: Peter O. Knight Airport on Davis Islands provided the ramp and aircraft, while a conference-room setup brought in charts and flight materials.
- Planned, talent-led production: We developed a shot list, hired on-camera talent, and secured signed releases before filming.
- Two delivery options: The client received the finished brand film with narration and without narration.
Results
The production delivered a finished brand film in two cuts for Atlas Aviation and a polished spec project for the Parrot Productions demo reel.
